## Make room for questions

An online visit can involve a live exchange or information reviewed later. For the latter, ask how messages move between you and the person assessing you. Before a video call, find a place where you can hear and be heard. Keep the medicine name, your main concern, and the questions you want answered close at hand.

The medical-board federation's policy, recorded in September 2026, allows live or delayed online exchanges to establish care if the standard is met. Delayed means you and the professional are not online at the same time. State requirements differ, so that policy is not a national permission to prescribe by any format.

### Compare the exchange, not just the convenience

Ask who reviews the information you send. Find out whether they can ask follow-up questions and whether you can ask yours. If a form leaves no space for a concern, ask how to add it. If the reply is unclear, ask for a plain-language explanation before treating it as a plan.

As of September 2026, the policy rejected care based only on a form with preset answers or one that did not gather enough information to assess and treat the person properly. In May 2026, the federation also said patients need a chance to raise follow-up questions themselves. These policies describe the exchange expected; state rules decide the binding requirements.

## Ask what needs a room

Federation policy calls for a required test or examination to be provided, arranged elsewhere, or addressed through referral. Ask how that would happen if it becomes part of your assessment. Who sends the request? Where do the results go? Who explains them to you? The practical handoff matters as much as the opening call.

An in-person appointment gives you a different setting for the same questions. Ask what records to bring and how much of the visit will focus on your concern. Do not assume either format settles what medicine, if any, will be proposed. Ask the professional to explain that decision after the assessment.

### Do not turn a federal point into a state answer

A controlled medicine is a drug the government tracks closely because it can be misused. Non-controlled means a medicine is outside that group. For non-controlled prescription medicines, general federal law as of September 2026 did not require an in-person exam before telehealth prescribing. State rules and the medical requirements for assessing and treating your concern still applied. It is not a promise that an online visit will fit every concern.

Ask the service to explain the rules for the exact medicine and location involved. Keep that explanation separate from the general convenience of an online appointment. You do not need to interpret a federal statute to ask whether a proposed visit can actually proceed.

### Know how the conversation continues

Before paying, ask how to get the visit record and whom to contact with a later question. Ask about any charge for further discussion. If you need another professional to take over, find out how the record reaches them. Leave with an answer in a form you can find again.

Compare each format by the questions you can ask and the next assessment it can arrange. Convenience is part of that choice, alongside the scope of the conversation. Next, [name the medicine](/medicine-map)
so the discussion can move beyond the broad phrase peptide care.

## Compare the visit questions

Both formats

Online

In person

### Questions about an online visit

Ask how messages reach the professional, how extra questions are handled, and what happens if a connection fails.

If the online assessment leaves an examination or test outstanding, ask who would arrange it.

### Questions about an in-person visit

Ask what records to bring, who conducts the assessment, and how to continue the discussion after you leave.

Ask how another professional would receive the visit record if more assessment is proposed.

Compare how online and office visits let you ask questions and arrange any further assessment.
