# Where to begin looking

Turn a broad search into a conversation with a care service whose assessment and follow-up you can understand.

This is a guide. Nobody is seen, prescribed for, or booked through these pages.

Move at your own pace. These steps organize questions, not treatment.

## Begin with the kind of conversation you need

You can contact an in-person practice or ask a telehealth service about an assessment. If you already see a doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant, ask whether they can assess your concern or help you find the kind of care it needs. Describe the concern first. You do not have to ask for a peptide to make the conversation worthwhile.

Ask what the visit covers before reserving it. Is it a discussion of your health concern, or is it built around a treatment you have already selected? Ask who conducts it and what happens if they think the proposed medicine is not appropriate. A clear process is easier to compare than a promise about results.

### Ask for names before judging the page

Medical-board records let the public check a physician's license status and published discipline. A medical or osteopathic board can be reached through the state-board directory at the Federation of State Medical Boards. An osteopathic physician holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, shortened to DO. An MD holds a Doctor of Medicine degree. Both are medical doctors. Ask the service which board holds the particular person's record.

Keep the service name and the professional's name separate in your notes. Ask which one is responsible for answering medical questions. If an intake team handles booking, ask how a question reaches the person doing the assessment. This is a process question, not a demand for a prescription before the visit.

## Look at how the assessment works

The medical-board federation's policy requires the same quality of assessment and care whether you meet online or in a room. As of September 2026, its policy rejected care based only on a form with preset answers, or a form that missed information needed to assess you. With a form that changes with your answers, the professional must still be able to ask you about any missing health details. These are professional policy statements; the binding rules come from the relevant state.

A questionnaire is a form that asks about your health. Ask who reads it, whether they can ask more questions, and how you can reply. Do the same for a video appointment: ask what happens if something cannot be settled on screen. The name of the format is less useful than knowing how the exchange works.

### Find the route beyond the opening visit

Ask how a later concern is handled. Can you reach the medical professional, and by what method? Who explains the plan if the original person is unavailable? How can you obtain the written assessment? Put those questions beside the price rather than leaving them until after payment.

When an assessment needs a test, federation policy calls for the physician to provide it, arrange it, or refer the person elsewhere. That leaves room for care to move between online and in-person settings. Ask how a service manages that handoff and whether it sends the relevant notes with you.

### Compare the answers, then choose what to ask next

Use a plain page for each option. Record the named professional, the proposed visit format, the scope of the fee, and the route for later questions. Leave a blank where the answer is missing. Do not fill it with an assumption from the site's appearance.

If you are still unsure where to begin, send a short process question before discussing a treatment. Ask who would assess your concern and how their license can be checked. The next stage starts with [checking the prescriber](/license-map)
. It helps turn an answer from a service into a public record you can read yourself.
